| Maria Sharapova's on Lanvin, Ballet Flats and Red Carpet Style |
 |
| March 11, 2011 |
|
The mega-athlete, who unveiled her redesigned Web site Thursday at mariasharapova.com, caught up with WWDBlog to dish about her favorite brands and must-have accessory.
See below for more on Sharapova's travel essentials and her go-to red carpet designer. |
| Question |
Who are you favorite designers? |
| Maria Sharapova |
Chloe, Isabel Marant, Vanessa Bruno, Stella McCartney, Lanvin and Rick Owens, but I travel so much that it depends. A lot of pieces that I have I'm able to wear a lot and layer. I love blazers and jackets and paring them with loose, cool wide legged pants. I'm tall and I feel like I can get away with that a little more. |
| Question |
What about shoes? |
| Maria Sharapova |
I'm always in flats; I'm a ballerina type of girl. I'm obsessed with my Bacara ballet flats from Cole Haan. I don't wear too many heels -- only to an event or dinner or a night out.

| Beauty Hymn of the Tiger Tennis star Maria Sharapova |
 |
| February 11, 2011 |
|
Think Maria Sharapova and one conjures up a vision of length — long legs, long hair, infact the whole nine yards that comes not just with being an international celebrity, but with being young, beautiful and famous. After Hrs asked the luminous tennis star for a tete-a-tete. Because tennis season may be about the game, but who would refuse a chance to get up, close and personal with the eye candy! Excerpts… |
| Question |
Indian duo Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi reached the finals of the men's tennis doubles in the recent Aussie Open — have you met them on the circuit? What do you think of their game? |
| Maria Sharapova |
I unfortunately haven’t had much time to view other players’ games in Australia but I heard their game was spectacular and fun to watch. Most importantly, their story about reuniting after 10 years and be at the top like this is really inspiring. |
| Question |
You are beautiful, and young and already endorsing big brands. Any future plans of acting, or modelling seriously? |
| Maria Sharapova |
I do not know yet what I will be doing when I am done playing tennis, I have not even asked myself this question because tennis is and remains my priority number one and I am only 23: my tennis career is ahead of me.

| Maria Sharapova's Interview after Defeated by Virginie Razzano |
 |
| February 05, 2011 |
|
Difficult situation for selecting Russia. With 2 losses left France leading 2-0, Russia now has to win all three games on Sunday. 2 singles and 1 doubles if you want to continue dreaming of the cup. |
| Question |
When was the score 1-4 in the second set I thought it was not the party I had in mind? |
| Maria Sharapova |
I really do not know how it went this way. I thought I had found the game. The first two objectives are entering the game and play well in accordance with this, but have not had time to do it completely. I was giving him confidence and it showed in the last game they played practically on the lines. |
| Question |
It seems that the Russian team was "solid" and that this will translate into a huge problem appears? |
| Maria Sharapova |
Yes, today France sack better than us.

Did it look like it? . |
| Question |
I just didn't think you were quite there. |

Yeah, definitely wasn't there. You know, not many things were working. I think it was just one of those days. Yeah, just not a good day at the office.

| Maria Sharapova's 3rd Round Interview of Australian Open 2011 |
 |
| January 21, 2011 |
|
| Question |
Can I ask you your thoughts on the court when you were hitting up obviously and that delay happened and it looked to be a bubble and it was fairly comical. What were your thoughts? |
| Maria Sharapova |
Maybe it was comical to you. Wasn't really comical to us. We warmed up and had to sit and wait for a while. I was the first one to notice it because I went to the umpire for the coin toss and I noticed there was something under my left shoe. I know I have a lot of foam in the heel but I thought they added some padding or something in there. All of a sudden I looked down and there was a pretty big bubble there. I mentioned it to the umpire and she said she would make a call. |
| Question |
So it was actually your foot pressure? You didn't see a ball bounce fair or do anything... |
| Maria Sharapova |
No, it was my foot. I thought for a second it was my shoe for a few seconds.
