| Maria Sharapova's 2nd Round Interview of Australian Open 2011 |
 |
| January 19, 2011 |
|
| Question |
Slow start. Looked like a tough match today. |
| Maria Sharapova |
Yes. |
| Question |
How would you assess it? |
| Maria Sharapova |
Yeah, it is definitely a slow start. I think after I had been waiting for a long time, you know, she came out playing really well. Deep, hard, low, making me hit a lot balls and I was just making a lot of unforced errors and it was just going one way.
The most important thing was that I didn't let go of that set, even though I was down 3 0, Love 40. Just played it a point at a time, and little by little got back in the set and won that one. Then stayed tough in the end there. That's the most important thing. |

| Maria Sharapova's 1st Round Interview of Australian Open 2011 |
 |
| January 17, 2011 |
|
| Question |
How do you feel about that today? |
| Maria Sharapova |
I was definitely a little bit nervous in the beginning. You know, last year I played first match on center and, you know, I lost. So kind of was like, I don't want this to happen again this year.
So, you know, the first game definitely wasn't great, and, uhm, didn't serve good at all during the match. But, you know, otherwise she was close to being 4 1 in the second set, and I was able to win 6 1, 6 3.
So that's the positive within my game. I started playing better as the match went on. And, uhm, yeah, I can only improve in the second one.
|
| Question |
With more matches, where will the improvement come from as the tournament progresses? Where do you expect the improvement to come from? |
| Maria Sharapova |
Well, it comes from, you know, being in the match and being in certain situations, whether you're up or down, you know, finding a way to win.
Whether you feel something is not working, then figuring out how to change it during the match. You know, whether it's being a little bit smarter out there depending who you're playing, yeah, concentrating a little bit better. |

| Maria Sharapova's Australian Open Pre-Tournament Interview |
 |
| January 15, 2011 |
|
| Question |
Compared to a year ago, how would you put your career, expectations? Roll it back a year and compare that to now. |
| Maria Sharapova |
Yeah, well, uhm, last year didn't start on the greatest note here in Australia. Besides that year, I've always felt really comfortable playing here, have had really good results. Obviously, it was disappointing to go out so early. You know, it happens. You move on. You try to learn as much as you can from it.
Yeah, you know, my ambitions are still very much there. You know, I've been a competitive girl ever since I was pretty much born. You know, I love the sport. Whether it's a loss or a win, you know, I try to move on from that and, uhm, build on that, whether it's little or big. |
| Question |
How do you feel about your game now, where it is now? Is it a big improvement from a year ago with all your injuries behind you? |
| Maria Sharapova |
Well, the tournament hasn't started yet. This is the time of year where, you know, you really see. For me it was a longer layoff than some others. It's been a couple of months. I only played one event since then, since Beijing.
It's a great place to see for everyone where their game is, what they need to work on, and try to build on from the first few rounds. |

| Interview with Maria Sharapova in the December issue of Instyle |
 |
| November 22, 2010 |
|
My interview with Masha Sharapova in the December issue of Instyle
It was urgent, and wildly secret mission.
I got a call from Instyle and offered to make of the cover interview for the New Year rates - with a kind of "Russian-American tennis player." Recently I had a lot more interviews with the athletes - and they belong to the category of special complexity, yet it is the guys who are accustomed to act, not talk.
What to Masha, here there was another zakovyka - her imperfect Russian. Those brief interview that she gave Russian journalists after the match, only intensified the alarm.
But as you know, for we have no difficulties, there is only call)) Here's the result - my interview with Maria Sharapova in the December Instyle. (By the way, love to write in such cases in the magazines about the life of stars, this is the first interview she gave after the engagement)
Maria Sharapova is not so bad says in Russian. In fact, it is not bad for an adult, left Russia in the age of nine. She spoke in Russian fluently, and feels that it does not give her any trouble, but her speech is the angularity, awkward pace - as if she was still a teenager.
"I really like this!" - This is about yesterday's shooting for Instyle. - When you style your hair, make-up, dress cool ... You have such great clothes that do not wear every day! " And the enthusiasm with which Maria says it makes a resemblance to the teenager even more.
Pondering a while, she continues: "At such moments I feel as though I no longer Maria Sharapova and the other girl, some kind of actress. If I'm playing a role. It's great. And I specifically call for such shooting my friends and we laugh with them and chatting all the time." |
| Question |
Frequently laughing? |
| Maria Sharapova |
Yes, I love to laugh. And like when I am surrounded by gay people. Simple and good-natured, which is easy. I have no better plan for the evening than to sit in a circle of friends and laugh at all this nonsense. Or, I always terribly amused my stylist's hair. He was here yesterday on the shooting. He has such character ... You can say, fantastic. All the time he danced, he jokes, he's always a good mood. It is worth it just to talk ... whether there is something in it in his eyes, or how he says it, but all around there and then sprinkle with laughter.
|
| Question |
How do you wear in which you acted yesterday? I wanted something to keep yourself? |
| Maria Sharapova |
There was something about it. By the end of shooting, I sat in a long dress by Chloe, very beautiful. One shot, it was decided to shoot on the street. The sun had set, so that the installed artificial light. And I stood there in that dress from Chloe, his beautiful skirt blowing wind, and in his hand I was conceived, was holding a light sweater. It turned out incredibly elegant. That is to me like crazy. In general, I'm awfully fond of elegant, classic dresses. |

| Maria Sharapova's Second Round Interview of China Open 2010 in Beijing |
 |
| October 05, 2010 |
|
| Question |
It's turning out to be a bad end of the season for you, isn't it? |
| Maria Sharapova |
Yeah, I'm definitely not as good as I wanted to be. But, you know, I didn't really have a great preparation coming into these last couple tournaments. You know, after the Open I wasn't really able to I didn't train as much as I wanted to, and I feel like the last couple of weeks I have just been trying to play catchup.
Going on the court hasn't my rhythm hasn't been where it should be. So obviously it's disappointing, but I've lost and won many matches in my career. You know, you just have to regroup and find a way to, you know, to improve things and get better and look forward to a new season. |
| Question |
What is your schedule for the rest of the season? |
| Maria Sharapova |
I'm not sure, actually. I think I'm scheduled to play Moscow, but I don't know. We'll see. |
