Maria is through to the quarters in Cincinnati after she defeated #7 seed Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland 6-2 6-3 in 1 hour and 31 minutes.
The first 3 games of the first set were breaks of serve but then Maria started to get into the match and built a 5-1 lead. Radwanska then held her serve and Maria came out and served for the set and won the set on a backhand winner.
Maria faced some breakpoints in the fourth game of the second set but held her serve and duly broke Radwanska in the next game to 30 when she hit a beautiful backhand lob to lead 3-2. The next games were holds of serve until Maria broke Radwanska in the final game. Maria won the match when Radwanska hit a backhand wide.
In the quarters on Friday, Maria will play #16 seed Marion Bartoli of France. Maria has played Bartoli 3 times before and leads the series 3-0 - in fact she hasn't dropped a set against the Frenchwoman.
