The world No. 7 ranked Maria Sharapova has climbed one position in the WTA Rankings, after the last week’s Internazionali BNL d’Italia win in Rome.
Maria Sharapova has moved from No. 8 to No. 7, as her highest ranking, since she was No. 6 in November 2008. Sharapova has crossed the Samantha Stosur of Australia, after losing the Rome Masters final with a 6-2 and 6-4 score line on Sunday. Sharapova of Russia got 4,761 points, where Samantha Stosur achieved 4, 645 points with 8th position in the WTA Rankings.
The 24-years-old Sharapova might face a tough battle with Petra Kvitova and Jelena Jankovic for the place in top ten WTA Rankings. Petra Kvitova of Czech Republic also climbed career high one spot to 9th position. Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova of Russia went up to career high No. 16 from 14 positions. Sharapova is looking good to win the upcoming French Open in Roland Garros, which it will starts from Sunday.
The Russian star is one of the top seed in the Paris Open, where she was seeking in the good form in this season. Sharapova said, she wants increase her ability on the clay court and wants to lift the title for the first time.
