Former world number one Maria Sharapova desperately wants to add the French Open crown to her Australian, US and Wimbledon titles.
The 24-year-old will head to Paris next week seeking the only Grand Slam missing from her resume, having reached the semi-finals at Roland Garros in 2007.
In Rome this week to compete at the Internazionali BNL d'Italia, Sharapova said she is confident her game can stand up when it matters.
"My goal is to keep going forward and win as many matches as I can because ultimately that will help my game and bring more confidence into it allowing me to play more naturally, more instinct wise. It is something that I have built over the last few weeks," she said.
"I always have a different mindset with each tournament but I feel like I am going to be working through this tournament."
Sharapova, seeded seventh in Rome, thrashed fellow Russian Ekaterina Makarova 6-1 6-1 on Tuesday to move into the third round where she will meet either Shahar Peer or Alisa Kleybanova.
"Maybe at the Grand Slams, you play the match and you take a little bit more time off and get ready for the next one. At a tournament like this, when you are getting ready for Roland Garros, you can finish the match and work a little bit more," said Sharapova, who is looking for her first WTA title since last May.
"You go out on the practice court and you work on a few more things if it wasn't a very long match, you take a longer run and do some fitness just to keep building and adding things to the cup."
