The Russian tennis star and Serena Williams of United States are looking hot favorites to lift the title at Wimbledon 2011.
The women’s singles tournament at Wimbledon 2011 to be more wide open, as comparing to the past seasons. The 2004 Wimbledon champion Sharapova is the favorite to lift the Wimbledon, where she has been appeared in nine Grand Slam titles, since come back from shoulder injury in 2009. She had made only one semi final appearance in those nine events at major. The world No. 6 ranked Sharapova has not even made into fourth round of the Grand Slam since 2006.
Serena Williams has been seed No. 7 in the All England Club at Wimbledon in the women’s singles, but she is the second hot favorite to bag the title, where she won the title for four occasions earlier in 2002, 2003, 2009 and 2010. But, Serena has failed to impress on the grass court at Eastbourne, she had defeated by the Vera Zvonareva in the second round of the tournament.
The world No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki, Venus Williams, Victoria Azarenka and Na Li are among favorites list to crown Wimbledon 2011. The French Open 2011 champion Na Li said that, she is very excited to play in the Wimbledon, after her French Open victory.
