Maria Sharapova celebrated the launch of her spring collection for Cole Haan at the brand's Coral Gables store last night. In town for the Sony Ericsson tournament, the tennis star slipped her designer hat back on for the evening, sitting for a Q&A session with Vogue's market stylist, Anne Vincent.
Even more than her perfect-for-Miami Air Jasmine Gladiator sandals, we loved Sharapova's downtown spin on spring florals. Tucking a sheer black top into her bright-print skirt and accessorizing with a chunky, dull-hardware belt, she looked season-appropriate but not overly sweet.
“I get a lot of ideas from my travels. I love seeing how girls in different cities carry their bag [or] create outfits around their shoes,” she remarked during the Q&A session.
Sharapova's own shoes, open-toe wedges from her collection, were a welcome change from winter boots, she said. “The transition from winter to spring is always one of my favorites!”
