The World No. 5 ranked Maria Sharapova is set to meet Galina Voskoboeva in the third round of the 2011 Rogers Cup tournament at 19:05 GMT on Thursday, 11th August at the Rexall Centre in Toronto.
The 24-year-old Maria Sharapova has overcome against Serbian Bojana Jovanovski in straight sets with a 6-1 and 7-5 in the second round at Rexall Centre in Toronto on Thursday. The Russian star has been playing well in this season, where she had appeared in the Wimbledon final at All England Club and semi final at French Open event at Roland Garros. She also won the Rome Masters title in this year.
The 2008 Australian Open winner Sharapova has been seeded No. 4, ahead of the World No. 3 Victoria Azarenka and she is the one of the hot favorite to clinch the title at Rogers Cup. The 26-year-old Galina Voskoboeva has thrashed Frenchwomen Marion Bartoli in the opening round in straight sets and defeated Flavia Pennetta in the second round tough three sets on Wednesday at Rexall Centre in Toronto.
Both the players are meeting for the second occasion in career, where Sharapova leads with a 1-0 win-loss head-to-head record against Voskoboeva. The odds favors to Sharapova will clinch the victory in straight sets to advance into the third round of the Rogers Cup tournament on Thursday.
