Maria Sharapova will play against Mirjana Lucic in the first round of the French Open tournament at Roland Garros in Paris on Sunday. The match will kick off at 14:30 IST.
The world No. 7 ranked Maria Sharapova was paired with Mirjana Lucic in the opening round of the Roland Garros event in Paris on Sunday, 22nd May. Sharapova has won the WTA event in Rome Masters, as she has improved a lot from last season. She had never won the French Open event in career, as she wants to lift the title for the first time.
The Russian star is one the hot favorite to lift the French Open title in Paris along with world No. 1 Caroline wozniacki, Kim Clijsters and Julia Goerges. The 24-year-old Sharapova has advanced into third round of the French Open past year. The Russian star has climbed one position in WTA Rankings in the last week, after defeating Samantha Stosur of Australia in the Rome Master finals.
Mirjana Lucic of Croatia has not performing well in this season, as she had to fight hard to make run into the next round of the Grand Slam in Paris. Both the players are facing for the first time in career and Sharapova is looking to win easily against Mirjana Lucic in two sets.
