Maria will be playing for a place in the semis of Roland Garros on Tuesday. The player that stands in her way is #20 seed Dominika Cibulkova of Slovakia.
Maria has played Cibulkova twice before and leads the series 2-0 and both matches were on clay, here are the matches:
Amelia Island 2008 Final 7-6 6-3 win for Maria
Rome 2008 2nd Round 6-2 3-6 6-4 win for Maria
Maria's thoughts about the match against Cibulkova: "She's definitely a difficult opponent, especially on clay. I've had a few challenges against her, and I think the last -- when we played in Rome, that was a year ago, so I think that was my first round in Rome, and it was a really close match. But I just gotta go out there and perform and play and we'll see who wins."
The match will be played on Court Suzanne Lenglen and is the 2nd match on court. The first match will begin at 14.00CET (8.00ET & 5.00PT).
This will be Cibulkova's 1st appearance in a Grand Slam quarter-final, wheras Maria will be making her 13th appearance at this stage having first reached this round 5 years ago here.
