The 2011 French Open winner Rafael Nadal and World No. 2 ranked Maria Sharapova have raised their support for a charity auction to increase funds for the flood victims in the country.
Pakistan tennis ace Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi said that, all the leading stars have agreed to donate to raise funds for the flood victims including World No. 2 Rafael Nadal, 16-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer, Britain star Andy Murray, World No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki, Ana Ivanovic along with 2011 US Open champion and World No. 1 Novak Djokovic.
Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi said that, Federer, Djokovic, Murray, Caroline Wozniacki and Ana Ivanovic have sent their charity auction, which will be held from the United Nations platform. He added he would like to ask his long time doubles partner Indian Rohan Bopanna to help for charity auction from leading sports personalities in India. Qureshi said that, heavy rains caused immense damage to areas in Pakistan’s Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where 350 people killed in Sindh and 1.2 million houses have been damaged and destroyed in August, 2011.
The United Nations and Pakistan government have announced on Sunday for US $357 million in foreign donations to immediately help more than seven million people flooded by a second year of disastrous floods. Qureshi said he would like to meet Peshawar governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to talk about rehabilitation of the Pakistan Tennis Club at Shahi Bagh in Peshawar.
