Maria beat Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic 6-4 6-3 to advance to the final in Memphis.
The match lasted 1 hour and 20 minutes.

Maria is through to semis at the Celluar South Cup in Memphis after she defeated #8 seed Elena Baltacha of Great Britain 6-2 7-5 in 1 hour and 32 minutes.
Maria took the 1st set in 32 minutes with a loss of only 2 games. Maria's serve was one of the reasons why she took the set as she won every point when she got her 1st serve in and didn't face a break point on her own serve.

Maria is continuing her run in Memphis as she had another straight set victory. In tonight's match, Maria defeated Bethanie Mattek-Sands of the United States 6-1 6-1 to reach the quarters.
After the win Maria said: “I wanted to stay consistent but aggressive at the same time. Bethanie has taken me to three sets before. I knew I had to play great tennis to beat her. I did a good job of not letting her get into her zone.” |
