Glamorous tennis star Maria Sharapova arrived in Auckland this morning for the ASB Classic - minus her fiance, New Jersey Mets guard Sasha Vujacic.
The world's highest-paid female athlete, who Forbes magazine estimated earned US$22 million ($29.2 million) in endorsements last year, flew into Auckland on Flight NZ5 from Los Angeles, entering arrivals about 8.40am. |

Russian tennis superstar , Three-time Grand Slam champion and Former world No. 1 Maria Sharapova could be comeback next month in New Zealand with her first start in Sydney after requesting a wildcard for next month's Medibank International Sydney 2011 being held from January 9. The newly engaged US-based Russian and one of the world’s most photographed athletes Sharapova finished 18th on the WTA for 2010,
Maria will contest the Auckland Classic from January 3-8 before deciding whether or not to round out hr Australian Open preparations in the harbour city before and her appearance will add more star power to an already stunning line-up of stars that includes the world’s top three. - Caroline Wozniacki, Vera Zvonareva and Kim Clijsters – and Australian No. 1 Samantha Stosur. |

| Maria Sharapova Ends 10-year Relationship with Prince |

Prince and Maria Sharapova announced that their partnership of over 10 years will come to an end. Sharapova has been playing Prince since she was nine years old and won the Australian Open, Wimbledon and the U.S. Open with their rackets.
Sharapova’s contract with Prince allowed the parties to mutually agree to end the relationship this year.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed my partnership with Prince,” Sharapova said. “Their rackets helped me to three great Slam victories and much more”.

Sony Ericsson has done another odd X10 promotional event with Maria Sharapova, this time getting her to play tennis while answering quiz questions. They’re encouraging Maria to CHEAT at the quiz by looking up the answers via Google Voice Search on her Xperia X10. Then she hits the ball.
It’s a very weird video but is Android and Maria Sharapova and you can’t complain about that. |
