Maria defeated Ioana Raluca Olaru to reach the 3rd round at Wimbledon. Maria won the match 6-1 6-4 in 1 hour and 24 minutes.
Maria came out firing in the first set which she won 6-1 in 32 minutes. Maria serve was very effective throughout the set and she won 11/11 points at the net. |

Maria's 2nd round Wimbledon match against Ioana Raluca Olaru of Romania will be played on Thursday. Maria has never played the Romanian before.
This match will be played Court 1 at 13.00GMT (14.00CET, 8.00ET & 5.00PT). |

Uhm, it always could (laughter).
Uhm, yeah, it was the first time I played against her. The draw changed a little bit. I was expecting to play someone else. Kind of last minute was playing against her.
But I never played either. So I think the goal today was, you know, to come out and just try to figure things out pretty quickly. And, uhm, I did a good job of that.

| Maria Sharapova Eases Through at Wimbledon |

Maria started her Wimbledon campaign with a win as she defeated Anastasia Pivovarova 6-1 6-0 on Court 2. Maria needed only 54 minutes to defeat the Russian lucky loser.
Maria was never in trouble throughout the match against an opponent who was playing only their 2nd tournament on grass. |

Maria will begin her 2010 Wimbledon campaign on Tuesday against lucky loser Anastasia Pivovarova of Russia. Maria has never Pivovarova before.
