When Maria Sharapova was very young her first Russian tennis coach noticed that she had "exceptional hand-eye coordination".
Now she is 23-years-old and has 22 world tennis titles.
In 2006 People magazine called her one of the most beautiful people in the world, and this year Forbes magazine named her as the highest paid female athlete in the world - earning $33 million. |

| Maria Sharapova-Mania Set to Hit Auckland Ahead of ASB Classic |

Tennis fans in Auckland will have the chance to get up close to Maria Sharapova before and during her time at the ASB Classic.
The Russian star will be the biggest name to play in the Auckland WTA tennis tournament and her presence in the country won't just be followed by those passionate about tennis.
On Thursday, December 30, it's hoped Sharapova and other players from the Classic will take part in a speed serve event and autograph session at the Viaduct in Auckland in the afternoon |

Maria Sharapova aims to be regularly and avoid the injuries that have slowed in recent seasons.
Maria Sharapova finished 2010 as number 18 in the WTA rankings after winning two titles (Memphis, Strasbourg) and to three finals (Birmingham, Stanford, Cincinnati). Russia has in mind to return to the level that one day led him to be the best circuit and has therefore hired as coach Thomas Hogstedt Swede, formerly of Tommy Haas or Na Li among others.
The European player, after a short break, has returned to training in preparation for the upcoming season. Sharapova and she attended the Nick Bollettieri Academy in Florida where he will work under the command of new coach Thomas Hogstedt, and did some training with him in Los Angeles in late November, "and her coach Michael Joyce usual. It was precisely this one that seems to be suggesting to the player to hire a part-time assistant coach. |
