Newly engaged tennis champ Maria Sharapova may not have picked a wedding dress yet, but the Nike spokesperson and designer certainly knows what she will be wearing on her feet. “I will for sure be wearing Cole Haan because everybody that’s been talking to me about weddings and comfortable shoes said, ‘you have to be sure that you’re wearing comfortable shoes,’” Sharapova told PEOPLE at the 14th annual ACE awards presented by the Accessories Council at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York on Monday.
“I’m for sure going to design them.” The tennis pro, whose engagement to L.A. Lakers shooting guard, Sasha Vujacic, was announced last month, said besides designing her own wedding kicks, she is also taking some time to bask in the engagement glow, refusing to stress out over a venue or guest list. “No, no, absolutely not, we’re going to take our time,” explained Sharapova, who, picked up the Brand Collaboration Award with Nike subsidiary Cole Haan last night. The Russian beauty, who is accustomed to wearing short tennis skirts, said she is open to the idea of a long traditional gown. |

| Tennis Superstar – Maria Sharapova Confirmed For 2011 ASB Classic |

It’s a rarity that New Zealand can accurately claim the presence of a genuine world superstar.
However the 2011 ASB Classic featuring the Kia Motors Singles and Doubles has confirmed one of the ultimate names and faces of world sport – Maria Sharapova.
Twenty three year-old Sharapova is a three-time Grand Slam winner and has 22 titles overall to her credit and is a former world No1.
She shocked the tennis world by triumphing at Wimbledon as a 17-year-old in 2004 defeating Lindsay Davenport 2-6 7-6(5) 6-1 in the semifinal and then beat top seed and two-time defending champion SerenaWilliams 6-1 6-4 in final.
The win meant Sharapova was the second-youngest in the Open Era to win at Wimbledon and the fourth youngest at all Grand Slams after Martina Hingis, Monica Seles and Tracey Austin. |

Maria attended the CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund Finalists Celebration at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles. The CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund presented a group fashion show, highlighting looks from each of the ten designers chosen as the 2010 CFDA Finalists.
The intimate presentation will introduce the next generation of American design talent to LA's top stylists, editors and tastemakers. As the premier beauty partner, Frric Fekkai and Renato Campora will work closely with Vogue, the designers, and Lottie Stannard's makeup team for Dolce & Gabbana The Make Up, to create the final look for the show. |

I know, I know. It has been way too long since my last entry and as I type this, I have a look on my face, very much like the one my dog gives when he knows he did something wrong..ears back, tail down. So how can you not forgive someone with such a cute expression??
I have to admit I have been adapting to the crazy world of social media and slowly getting to realize that it is so beneficial in many different aspects of someone's social and professional lives. Although you will not be hearing what I had for dinner and what time I am going to sleep on a daily basis (I do not have a twitter account as you may well know), I have been trying to update my facebook regularly because I know how important it is to hear directly from me, instead from outside sources (that's my way of saying the media). And with my new Xperia phone I got this summer at the SE headquarters, I really don't have any excuses for not bringing you updates. So that's that! |
