Maria will open up proceedings on Rod Laver Arena on Monday. Maria will play her 1st round match at the first Grand Slam of the year at the Australian Open in Melbourne against Maria Kirilenko of Russia.
The two have played each other 3 times before and Maria leads the series 2-1. The two matches Maria won were in Los Angeles in 2005 and Miami in 2006. The other match in Beijing in 2005, Maria had to retire at the beginning of the 2nd set as she was injured. |

Nike and tennis star Maria Sharapova today announce the introduction of the Maria Sharapova Collection, an innovative line of high-performance tennis dresses and two-piece outfits. For the first time the fashion-forward, on-court looks of the young three-time Grand Slam champion will be available for all women to enjoy.
Throughout the year ahead, Nike will debut seven dresses and a number of tank and skirt combinations which Sharapova will wear on court beginning with the lightweight, two-layer dress she will sport at the 2010 Australian Open. |

The draw for the first Grand Slam of the decade at the Australian Open in Melbourne has been released and Maria is seeded #14 and will face Maria Kirilenko in the 1st round. Maria has played Kirilenko 3 times before and leads the series 2-1, the last meeting was in Miami in 2006 which Maria won in 3 sets. This match will be played on Monday. |
