Who Are the Sexiest Female Athletes of the Decade?

Adding to the already large number of “best of” lists for the first 10 years of the new millennium, U.S. sports Web site Bleacher Report has released its lineup of the “40 Hottest Female Athletes of the Decade.”

Although the list is mostly comprised of U.S. sportswomen, the top two finishers are Russian tennis stars. Maria Sharapova came in first because “she redefined ‘leggy’ and rivaled Anna Kournikova’s sexiness all the while completely surpassing her in talent and relevance,” the report said. In second place, Sharapova's rival in sexiness, Anna Kournikov, was credited as a “trailblazer” who was “the first athlete that could have legitimately been a model just as easily.”

Several names familiar to Korean sports fans made it to the list. Australian golfer Anna Rawson came in 17th with her “killer looks that make just as popular as Annika Sorenstam.” Australian Lauren Jackson, who played for the Samsung Life Bichumi in Korea’s national basketball league in 2007, was ranked 35th. Jeannette Lee, a billiards player who placed 37th, was the only athlete of Asian descent on the list.
