The Russian stars Maria Sharapova and Vera Zvonareva have advised Taiwanese young tennis players to work hard at this age to become a good player.
The three-time Grand Slam champion Maria Sharapova said that, she has spend decades of practice, since her age four and finally reach the world tennis stage. Sharapova has climbed to No. 1 position in the WTA Rankings for the first time in 2005 and reclaimed for the top spot for fourth time in 2008. The two Russian stars Sharapova and World No. 4th ranked Zvonareva have appeared to promote an upcoming exhibition match here in Taipei.
The 27-year-old Zvonareva said that, she loves to visit Taipei and would like to taste some local cuisines in her brief stay and Sharapova likes to experience local culture. Sharapova has remained highest earning sportswomen for the seventh consecutive year in 2011, as she had made US $25million in 2010 to top the annual Forbes magazine list released in August. The World No. 2 Sharapova has been earning more money from her endorsements and other commercial activities compare to her salary and winning trophy’s.
Sharapova said she wants to play an exhibition match, where it can inspire the Taiwanese young tennis players to slot in the sport. Zvonareva, who enjoys in charity work and she also appointed as the Organizing Committee for the Russian Rett Syndrome Foundation. The Russian stars will player their exhibition match, scheduled to play at 8 pm local time on Thursday in Taipei Arena.
