The Sixteen-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer, three-time Grand Slam champion Maria Sharapova and World No. 2 ranked Vera Zvonareva have praised the Western & Southern Open’s development to a men’s and women’s mutual tournament in 2011.
The 30-year-old Roger Federer said that he is very excited to return back into the tournament, where the tournament officials have done very well from the several years. He added, it was little bit difficult to get down for practice in 2010, but it has been changed a lot this year. Federer has been seeded at No. 3 in the Western & Southern Open tournament in Cincinnati and might face 2011 Rogers Cup champion Novak Djokovic in his draw.
The Russian star Maria Sharapova said that, happy to see additional courts and ability to watch men’s and women’s tennis at a time, which it was the best experience for tennis fans. The another Russian top seed Vera Zvonareva, who has won Doha and Baku Open events in this season, she believes larger grounds of the Lindner Family Tennis Center and the events mutual grade shows like Grand Slam tournament.
The 27-year-old Zvonareva said it’s nice to train in the gym and look up at the small screens in 2011. Zvonareva will play against 2010 Eastbourne champion Ekaterina Makarova in the second round of the tournament.
