The three-time Grand Slam champion Maria Sharapova will play Russia’s Fed Cup tie match against France on 5th and 6th February on next year, schedule to play Moscow.
The 24-year-old Sharapova has been pulled out of the 2011 China Open last month, where she suffering foot injury in the 2011 Toray Pan Pacific Open tournament playing against 2011 Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova. Sharapova said she will recover soon, as she has working hard on her rehab and also begin training session for the upcoming tournament in Istanbul. Sharapova has qualified for the WTA Tour Championships, which will begin on 25th October in Istanbul.
The former World No. 1 Sharapova will also play the Open GDF Suez in Paris, scheduled to kick off on 7th February, 2012. The other Russian team players included to play in the Fed Cup along with Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, Svetlana Kuznetsova and Dinara Safina. Sharapova will lead her country to face a five match tie of four singles and one doubles matches, where Russia needs 3 of 5 matches to win the tie against France.
The 2008 Australian Open winner Sharapova hopes to return back to top spot in the WTA Rankings, where she stands with 6,370 points behind with World No. 1 ranked Caroline Wozniacki with 8,005 points. The Russian beauty Sharapova has become one of the most valuable sports brand ambassador by the Forbes Magazine in 2011 season.
