Us Open 2010 Draw Released

The draw for the 4th and final Grand Slam of the year at the US Open in New York has been released and Maria is the No.14 seed and will play Jarmila Groth of Australia in the 1st round.  In official competition they have played before at Los Angeles last year on hardcourts and Maria won 6-0 6-4.  This match will be played on Monday or Tuesday.

If Maria can win that match she will play either Iveta Benesova of the Czech Republic or a qualifier in the 2nd round.  The first seed Maria can meet is #18 seed Aravane Rezai of France in the 3rd round.  In the 4th round, Maria is scheduled to meet top seed Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark in the 4th round.

Maria has played the US Open 6 times before and of course her best performance was winning here in 2006.  Last year Maria lost in the 3rd round to Melanie Oudin.
