The world No. 6 ranked Maria Sharapova is one the familiar player on the women’s tour for many years.
Sharapova has won just three Grand Slam titles in her career so far, where she struggled a lot with shoulder and wrist injury last two years. Recently, Russian star has lost match against Na Li of China in the semi final of the French Open. In her career, Sharapova has held as world No. 1 in WTA Ranking on four different occasions for 17 weeks.
The 24-year-old Sharapova had missed out the most of the seasons with injuries in 2008 including US Open, WTA Tour championships and Beijing Olympics. In 2010 she was forced to pull out of the Indian Wells, due to elbow injury. She has been facing difficult situations with her fitness from several years and she doesn’t want to end up his career with injuries.
Sharapova will continue to suffer injuries, as her body gets older and cannot perform at the high level standards. She can extend her career like Na Li and Kim Clijsters, as she had already passed the halfway of her career. She had won 23 WTA singles titles along with Wimbledon in 2003, US Open in 2006 and Australian Open in 2008. Sharapova said that, she is looking very positive ahead of the Wimbledon, after the best performance in French Open.
